Each year I share my goals for the year. Last year I didn’t write any! I along with everyone else had a roller coaster of a year. I am sure glad I didn’t have any goals to fail. All of the global 2020 drama aside, I had a great year. Yes, I was incredibly lonely and depressed during quarantine, but let me tell you about the highlights instead.
In January, I married my best friend. Miko and I got married at our home in Texas. I hope to have a wedding or reception someday to celebrate. I am so happy to have started off the year becoming a family. I couldn’t have made it through the year with out my best friend.
In June, we moved to the Tucson area for Miko’s work. I had never been to Arizona before but I am loving it so far! Our house sits beneath mountain foothills, and I love taking walks just before sunset.
In August, we welcomed baby Henryk Brian into our family. He is the best little buddy I could ever hope for! I love watching him grow. I cannot wait to see the little person he becomes.
During 2019 I had my own flower farm in Southeast Texas, and last year I let most of that dream fade. I still wanted to garden but I spent most of my pregnancy with terrible morning sickness. That paired with moving I barely did any gardening.
My goals for 2021
Start a new garden. Learning to grow in a new climate is a lot of fun, but also brings a lot of challenges and failures, I learned that moving from the PNW to SE Texas. Now living in yet another climate I am ready to try my hand at desert gardening. This time instead of growing purely to sell flowers, I want to create a garden that sparks the senses, for Henryk to explore and play in.
Create more art. I recently started making my own watercolors, and started an Etsy shop. I look forward to seeing how my art evolves this year. I am currently interested in exploring pigment making from earth, and I am already dreaming of the day I can teach Henryk to turn his rock collection into paint. (He’ll have to learn how to collect rocks first, of course.)
Come up with creative activities to do with the baby. Henryk is almost 5 months and I can tell he really wants to start crawling. He is not quite ready, but I need to baby proof the floors. I would love to come up with some fun things for us to do together!
What are your goals for the year? I hope you choose something that sparks your creativity!
