At the beginning of the year I decided to make a few small goals each month instead of one big one for the year. So far they have helped me focus my time and energy and I am loving coming up with new challenges and goals for each month. I even made a list on my birthday for activities and new things to try, like a bucket list for this age.
This April my goal is to enjoy the current season. Starting inside and working my way out. Now that the air is warm I am happy that I can open up all the windows and let the air rush through the house. This week I am going let the air in, give my room and closet a good clean, pair down clothes, and donate what I no longer use.
Then I can move outside into the yard. With a few days of winter clean up I will be ready to plant some flowers for summer. Two summers ago I planted vegetables in containers covering our whole deck. This year my goals is to do a little more planning, choosing seeds for vegetables that will do their best with the sunlight that we have, and only choosing the ones we like to eat the most! After some vegetable seeds are started, I am excited to use the rest of the space for flowers.
One thing on my bucket list for the year is to start garden journal. In college I took a plant taxonomy course where we collected plant samples through out the Pacific Northwest, identified them and saved them in a herbarium. I hope this journal will have a similar feel, but I also want to have fun with it. Keep it creative and less scientific.
I plan (hope!) to use this the journal to keep track of planting dates, plant maturity, production, and note which varieties are thriving and which are not. Overall observing and loving the garden.
Happy Spring!
What are you looking forward to this season?
Any plant suggestions, tips and stories are always welcome!

Getting off the treadmill and running outside on Saturday and Sunday morning(s) as the weather continues to get better here in Eastern Washington.
Also, continuing to work hard as a team to get ready for our time to bowl at the USBC Open National Championships later this spring in Las Vegas – almost 10,000+ teams bowl in it over 4 months.
Good luck on reaching your goals this month Rebecca.

Thank you! Good luck on your goals as well! Spring is the best time to get back in shape.

Thanks Rebecca.
I run year round, but after the rough winter we had here, running outside has been a challenge, with all snow, puddles and pot holes we had on the roads. Running on treadmills gets really hard after a while and I look forward to running outside in the sunshine on the weekends once Spring comes.
Have a great day Rebecca 🙂
